Re: Not that horrible, just a nerdy reference
Howdy howdy... welcome to the board and thanks for sharing. I agree with the above poster about your guilt. We're ALL assholes...it's human nature. Stupid assholes who make decisions that damage others, so you're really not worse than the rest of us. As we've heard on podcasts before: acknowledge th...

Re: Crippling Performance Anxiety
Welcome to the board, Karina! You're definitely one who shares through words.... I'm more comfortable that way myself. Also a theatre major I've been outgoing for a while but inside I'm a hardcore introvert. I can identify with your struggle of being caught between two worlds. There are so many thin...

A humorous blog that explains it perfectly...
Greetings... I've been keeping up with www.hyperboleandahalf.com for a while now...the writer is super talented and funny (imho). Anyway, she disppeared from the blog for a while and her latest post kinda explains why... It's aptly titled "Adventures in Depression" and I lol'd a lot when r...

Re: A Catch22 in reaching out
I've been working on self-forgiveness too. My new thing is to acknowledge what's happened (whether it be something I feel I've done, feelings, etc) and then let it go. It's a challenge but I think it's definitely helping me. I'm also trying to "take care of me"... as in doing nice things f...

Re: Constantly Craving Attention
This year I left my marriage. Jumped right into a relationship with a person I consider my true "soul mate"...true love, true understanding, and the best physical intimacy. Of course, because I'm so broken I managed to jack it up and lost him. I have had the same feelings about never being...

Re: Food
I don't tend to have an addictive personality but I dooooo have a hard time with food... and the real issue is that you CAN'T just *stop* eating...you have to eat to live and that makes it a very difficult addiction to deal with.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Thanks for the well wishes... personally it's a rough time of year for me (always is...I get the SAD and whatnot) but this is my first holiday season as a divorcee.... and well, it sucks. :) But I'm plowing through. It's good to know that I'll never have another "first holiday season as a divor...

Re: Anyone feel embarrassed to admit their depression?
I'm not sure I've been "embarrassed" per se.... especially now that it seems that almost everyone is dealing with some sort of depression or on meds or HAS been. I HAVE dealt with the difficult task of explaining it to my parents... My pastor father's response was "pray more, go to ch...

Re: Hi
Hi Christy, welcome to the forum... It sounds like you're in a pretty rough place. But it also sounds like you're making SOME effort (whether you realize it or not) to climb out of the pit. Making a connection through a podcast or message board is a big step. Making an effort to find a job (whether ...

Re: If You're Always Angry, Are You Still Depressed?
Manuel...sometimes that's the way it rolls and it takes time to change that pattern. Think about each experience after it happens and try to figure out where you could have changed your response. Maybe try to visualize a giant stop sign that flashes up right after the stimulus...STOP! then pause, ta...
