Re: Hello from an NYC Depressive
Ohmigosh, Seb! That's the best thing I've heard all week. Oh no. The second-best. I got a job for the first time in 2 years, so that just trumps this. But just barely!!! Thanks so much.

Re: For when you feel like crap/weak for taking meds
Exactly! Even my husband doesn't get it. When I was going through the challenges of finding the right meds for me, I had a pretty bad allergic reaction to Wellbutrin. He started getting on a soapbox about how I should just stop taking them altogether, rather than starting on another one. I listened ...

Thinking of fathers today
I never lived with my grandfather. I never even met him, I don't think. He committed suicide when I was six months old. It's been a sad, shameful family secret for 43 years. Now that I'm coming out with my mental illness, I really want to have an honest conversation with my father about him. I think...

Re: For when you feel like crap/weak for taking meds
Thanks for posting this article, Jennifer. Stealing it for my blog right now!
I have struggled with taking/not taking my medication for the last 4 years.
Now I'm finally convinced that, like a diabetic, it is my responsibility to my
health to take my antidepressants.

Re: Where to Start. . .
Hi Penelope/Kate. I had to drop out of college to spend two years touring rehabs and sober living facilities, so yeah, fun times! I'm 20 years past all that and still on the road to recovery from whatever you want to call my mental illness(es). I'm new to the forum, too. Or any forum, for that matte...

Re: hi
Hi, RN. I've had depressive symptoms that I can remember since I was 10, too. I'm 43 and am just now getting the right kind of help. It can take years to find the right help for you. It shouldn't, but it does. I remember feeling last year (in my last deep depression) like, "Here I am again. I d...

Hello from an NYC Depressive
Hello. I'm a forty-something woman living in NYC who's in recovery from Major Depressive Disorder and Alcoholism. I've been sober for many years, but only recently started on a true path to recovery from depression. A year ago I had my worst, lowest depression to date, but now I'm much better and on...
