Re: this loving yourself thing is hard

You've made some tremendous progress. Finding somebody and trusting that person enough to share your feelings with is a huge step. Be kind to yourself for the missteps and the worrying and the self-hate. it's all part of the experience of getting out of that dark hole.

Best wishes.

Re: Other Podcast's Episodes relevant to this group

everyone here has probably checked out WTF with Marc Maron but the one of the most recent ones with Melanie Lynskey is almost entirely about their issues. They touch on some raw stuff and while it's not as compassionate as this podcast I still found it a good listen. http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/ep...

Re: My best is just holding on

I'm sorry that you're struggling right now. I think that you're right. Troubles temper our hearts and make us into more compassionate people. You are a thoughtful, caring individual who is an invaluable part of this community. I know that when I get flustered the hardest but most necessary thing I c...

Exhausted

I'm not really taking good care of myself at the moment. I don't have a job, rent will be due soon and I don't know what I'm going to do. I still never feel good, and I didn't when I was working. In fact, things were worse when I was working part-time. Slightly better financially, better in that I a...

Re: Matt Oswalt

As far as his comments about suicide, I felt that was his personal defense against the idea of suicide. I appreciated how he was honest about his potentially unhealthy exercise habits and felt that his views on suicide were just an extension of his self-punishment.

Re: Matt Oswalt

I thought this was a great episode. It was hard to listen to because it was so relateable. Matt seems like a really funny guy, just having been familiar with his twitter. I wish him more success in his life.

Progress, a short bucket list

If I can feel the tightness in my chest and the experience the heavy breathing without letting it induce me into compulsive activity, I will have made progress. If I can look at the chasm between the person I want to be and the person I am right now and feel awe instead of terror, I will have made p...

The third parent

Like Manuel in his thread, I'm having a hard time trying to find a reason to stay alive. Things seems bleak. I feel decrepit, joyless. Crushed. I would cry but for a numb heart. The effort is futile. It's like trying to light a damp matchstick. With such low emotional intelligence,I rarely know what...

Re: Lack of clear identity

I think that the internal/external incongruity you refer to is something normal people struggle with on a daily basis. People wear "masks" in public (people pleasing can be one of them) because they don't want to rock the boat or cause anyone unnecessary distress by letting their id flow o...

Re: Caretaking

Wow, it's almost been a year since I posted this thread. Those were incredibly frantic times for me. I'm relieved to report that I no longer worry about taking care of my therapist. To be specific, I went from worrying about her to not worrying about her, to completely not trusting her at all and br...
