LOOOOVED IT.
Great show, Paul. Resonated with me on so many levels. It's rare you hear two men going deep talking about stuff so honestly, shamelessly, and openly.
It made me want to hang out with you guys. Yaknow?
Thanks so much.

Episode 206: Listener Confessions pt deux
So I'm having a really hard time with Leena. Her note was articulate, moving and heartfelt. And denying that her death was a suicide is in and of itself evidence of the abuse and neglect she was suffering at the hands of her loved ones. But Paul nailed it, her suicide was a waste. And, in stepping i...

Fears and Loves
I've been listening to the podcast for a while now and one thing I've been thinking about a lot recently is how the nature of fears compares to the nature of loves. Have you noticed how different they are? Fears tend to loom large, have complexity, be far-reaching and grandiose. Loves tend to be sim...

Re: Matt Oswalt
Bron, he wasn't calling you selfish, he was sharing the thoughts that stopped him from following through about it.
You're the one who made it about yourself. And that's not, uh, ...?

Re: Episode 187 Susanna Lee
I'm happy you related with her. I feel like there's a difference between "normal people" who haven't accomplished what they want to in life, and this guest. The episode focused so much on her sex work under sort of the assumption that we all agree that it's wrongfully criminalized, and the...

Re: Episode 187 Susanna Lee
Just finished listening to this one. Still don't like the guest. I'm not sure which image struck me as the most telling. The fact that she saw one of her "clients" crying in his truck, and just assumed that this was a good thing, or the whole thing about how she got into sex work after hei...

Re: Episode 187 Susanna Lee
Rivergirl, I think Paul's intention is to have a safe environment for guests and listeners, but at the same time he says right up front that it's a waiting room and not a doctor's office. He's another guy in the waiting room. Another guy with problems, issues, etc. who just likes to talk about them....

Re: Episode 187 Susanna Lee
I'm right in the middle of this podcast, and it's an interesting one. I can't quite say I like it. 1. "irrationalpersist" nailed it. I listen to the podcast on my commute, and I exclaimed in my car, "that's the *point*, Paul!" when he complained that the stripper doesn't open up ...

Re: Ep: 178 Anna Akana
Anna said she was a chronic liar. I wanted to know more about how that affected her life. Her examples were good ones but I hoped she would share more about how lies can snowball and how one day you wake up living in a reality constructed by lies that is taking so much energy to maintain and you don...

Re: Ep: 178 Anna Akana
I thought the same thing but Paul has said on his podcast multiple times that he struggles with sex, masturbation, porn, etc. I noticed Paul harped on that topic when Anna didn't really take the interview there on her own. I just figured that Paul was taking the opportunity to get Anna's perspective...
