Re: Misophonia

everyonecanbuzzoff (love the username, BTW) — I can relate to so much of what you said, ESPECIALLY about how unconscious people are of their behavior. They have no idea that chewing gum, clearing their throats constantly, or whatever it is, drives people like us to the point of insanity. But why wou...

Re: Misophonia

I watched the debates last night. From a misophonia standpoint, it was downright unbearable at times.

I won't go into what I thought from a non-misophonia standpoint because this isn't the appropriate thread for that.

Thanks, brownbob. It's tough losing them because they're such wonderful companions.

Re: Loss of a pet

I lost my cat almost two weeks ago. It still hurts, and why shouldn't it? I spent more time with him in the 11 years that I had him than anyone else. He was one of my two best friends. I still find myself looking at some of his favorite places to sleep and expecting him to be there. The house feels ...

Re: Caffeine

Hi, Jitterz. I'm also a caffeine addict who also suffers from anxiety. I have severely cut back or eliminated caffeine intake and have found that it does help me manage my anxiety, but I miss the rush of energy that caffeine gives me so much that I always go back to it. Did your therapist have any h...

Re: Misophonia

I'm pretty sure I've got this or a similar problem, but I would never tell anyone about it in real life. I've always thought it's just something I have to deal with to get through the world-as-it-is. THIS. No way did I tell anybody about this problem until I learned that it had a name. If nothing e...

Re: Misophonia

Thank you for your replies, Kismet and BreakingTraining77. Yes, we *do* need to get this issue more into the public so people are aware it exists. That way, people like myself won't feel like a complete nut case when, for instance, I break out the noise-cancelling headphones for nearly the entirety ...

Re: Misophonia

Thanks for your reply, Dogless Dog Lady! To answer your question, yes, misophonia brings out anger and/or anxiety as a response to certain sounds. It's a little bit of both for me. The initial reaction is anger, starting with something like a dirty look if I'm not controlling myself and leading to d...
