Ranting Family Members
Does anyone else have family members who rant and/or ruminate out loud? I have sever depression and when one of my family members talks nonstop, nearly completely about negative issues, it feels like my head is burning. I feel like a selfish asshole since clearly they are screaming out to have their...

I think I have a minor version of this. I'm always pulling at my beard or body hair subconsciously, there have been a few times where I've had to shave since I actually made my beard uneven. I really feel for those of you who have it big-time, it's got to be rough. Sending you my best!

Re: Forgetfulness
For what it's worth in this, you're not alone in this. Your post is so similar to my own experiences I had to double check that I hadn't written this post and then forgotten it ;) Seriously though, I forget so much and it's scaring me. I used to have a rather respectable IQ and I feel dumber every d...

Triggers and support
I just want to give a shoutout to the Mental Illness Happy Hour community for treating each other's issues like mature adults. It's not so everywhere else. In a Facebook group on depression, someone posted asking if other people experienced self-cutting. Post after post people replied that he should...

Welcome! Unfortunately I'm no longer in Portland, but I'm in the business for a therapist and your art therapy background would have been a nice addition. Enjoy bridgetown, it's a lovely city, and feel free to message me if you need any advice about the city.

Re: When people are starting to notice
I have actually started using the term "sick" when I'm having an extreme bout of depression since it seems more effective at getting the point across.

Re: this is scaring me now
I know there are some therapists around the world who work through Skype, that my get you by until you find something local. Also there are a lot of life coaches out there who might not be certified but can be a caring ear. And let us not forget the benefit of groups if you can find them. There are ...

Re: Does depression affect our cognitive abilities?
I totally agree with that comment about wishing for a terminal disease, I feel so bad for wanting that, and sometimes have even thought about faking cancer or something so that when my depression was destroying me people would actually get it. Won't do that out of respect for people with cancer thou...

Yeah, I overheard my nephew asking "why does [my name] sleep all the time?" Ugh. I wish he didn't notice!

Re: Anybody else feel directionless?
Definitely agreeing with the artist/writer comment. But yeah, I'm so directionless. I've traveled around the world and feel more lost than ever.
