I sense I'm going to find myself in hot water right off, because of a question:
There was something about a place to post called "General" and I couldn't find it and so used the search tool here and was informed that was too 'general' of a word to allow for results. That reference to some forum or sub-forum was in one of those "Read This First" posts by an admin, I think. I saw/read that before doing the registration process.
As for the introduction, I sure would like to keep that briefer than brief as I have a distrust of public posts on the Net, unless it is something like information of a very loose or non-specific style. You know, my account name here and I am a tad on the aged side, which we might get into later, - - - let's see, I use strange punctuation sometimes; --- long pause --- And I am here because it seems that true Online Communities that focus on medical issues are very hard to find. Let me be straight about that, if you don't mind my being blunt --- I went passed whatever page I found this Online Community in the Google search tool after I clicked on the link for this Online Community (and looked it over) and simply found no other after the search engine stopped showing results at page 13. I think your site was maybe page three or four. And I have actually been looking off-and-on for a few months for a forum/Online Community like this and it seems very strange that there are so few.
And now you can see another character trait of mine, I don't mind doing long posts.
Let's see, what else might anyone be interested in:
I've been using the Net for many, many years. Have my own website, was one of the earliest administrators of a very large Online Community many years ago --- but that info about my Net experience is just intro stuff and I have no reason to repeat that or answer questions on those two topics --- just part of this intro.
Okay, enough of that "Who are you?" for now, don't you think?
So where is that "General" forum or sub-forum?
I am here to offer some thoughts about cancer, which is my number one medical problem (lymphoma and at grade 3B now) and just finished about a 6-month stay in the hospital for what was stated to be an aggressive relapse. But I am absolutely not interested in sympathy style exchanges in any exchange of information. I am not really looking for advice, but if it is offered I may very well appreciate it, if the advice seems to have value. Well, unless it is the advice to leave and take my thoughts and very lengthy posts to another Online Community. Of course, I would probably do just that, if it is stated by many folks here.
I simply want to offer some thoughts about this topic of medical care at the level that is necessary when battling something like cancer and, most importantly, I am interested in thoughts on who is taking care of those that work in hospitals and have to face those of us in possibly dire straits; and face us every day of their working lives. My observations while I was in the hospital was that maybe there is a lack of understanding by hospital management of/to the pressure upon those that have to attend to in-patient folks on a daily basis. I mean in-patient folks that are really in trouble, or worse. I'll get into serious detail on that later, if I am allowed to do so.
By the way, let me be straight about something right off; I was in a modern medical facility, they did fine work, they saved my life, and I am not here to rant about poor health care and such.
My goodness, what a long post. I wonder if I've broken any records here for the longest post in this intro section. Didn't mean to get so long, but ... --- Well, it did get long, didn't it? I best bring this to a close, yes?

Re: A Brief Intro and A Question
Hello and welcome MNyby
Yes, have direct contact with my own patients with oncology procedures as well as having almost my entire family taken by cancer. Had a few bits removed myself and currently going through the mental recovery and maintaining some normality (if there is such a thing!)
I wish you all the best on your journey.

Hello MNyby,
FYI, to address one of your subjects - There are a couple of Reddit threads where nurses and medical personnel share stories and vent. They've been quite active for the last couple of years during the Covid waves.

I've spent hours there. Not in the medical field, but fascinated...
