Hello!

Post by sheldon »

I've been listening to the podcast for a few years now, it helps me feel seen!! This morning I've been thinking, where's a good place to get something off my chest? Good enough excuse to finally join the mentalpodforum :)

I've struggled for a long time to eat enough day-to-day, and the issue has worsened a bit since I started on Adderall a few months ago (despite this, the benefits of Adderall are incredible for me). Even though I love to cook, my depression manifests such that deciding *what* to cook is a god damn ordeal -- nothing sounds good, and I'm filled with hopeless thoughts, like how will I do this every day for the rest of my life, or why hasn't this gotten easier by now, thoughts that only cause delay in making my grocery list. Often I procrastinate getting groceries, and as a result, don't have enough food at home to eat well.

Woke up today with this on my mind, got me a bit depressed, but also frustrated that this has been an issue for so long. So now I'm here venting, and also possibly on the lookout for the easiest meals that get me enough (minimum, even) nutrients on a frugal budget. Around 2013, I tried those Soylent meal replacement shakes, and I'd happily try something like that again, just to make sure that there's something in my pantry at all times. I know there are more brands, too, like Huel, so I could do some research.

Anyway, good to be here! Feel free to say hi :)

Hello Sheldon,

Hi and welcome!
(There's been a bit of spam here lately and sometimes it's easy to miss the real posts  )

I'm not into cooking myself, I guess I don't have the patience. But I can see how interesting and enjoyable it could be if you're inspired and in the mood. (Cooking shows on TV and online seem to be quite popular.)

Curious about the eating issue. Is it just the prep part that stops you, or maybe more like an anorexia type of mental struggle?
(I see that a side effect of Adderall is decreased appetite)

When you're in the mood, what do you like to cook?
Do you like spicy stuff?

Hi Sheldon

I did write a couple of days ago but didn’t save bugger it!

Will pop back shortly and elaborate but I’m thinking along the lines of wraps. Fillings of your choice and healthy based. I’m a big fan of chicken wraps.

Homemade pizzas with simple toppings.

Nachos and beans!

Being a kiwi gal I’m also a partial to fish and chips! With vinaigrette on the fish. Yum O! As we say here.

Pasta parcels of your choice cooked then drained. Stir through some basil pesto, feta, shedded chicken and extra cheese!

Where do I stop!!!!
