Other Podcast's Episodes relevant to this group

Wasn't really sure where to put this but I know that Brene Brown has been requested as a guest but she's not been on as yet - I would recommend the unedited version of the podcast she did on "On Being" as touching on some of the topics that come up on these podcasts:

Thank you gfyouself (it feels funny to type that out, I'm really not telling you to gfyourself!)
I'm always looking for different podcasts on mental health but haven't found any others that clicked for me yet, so when I run out of MIHH I relisten to them or turn to comedy podcasts just to lighten my mood. I tried Dr. Drew and will still occasionally listen on a particular subject, but sometimes I don't find it helpful and it makes me feel worse. Well, I don't think I need to go into the pros & cons of Dr. Drew. It's great to get recommendations from people who like MIHH.

everyone here has probably checked out WTF with Marc Maron but the one of the most recent ones with Melanie Lynskey is almost entirely about their issues. They touch on some raw stuff and while it's not as compassionate as this podcast I still found it a good listen.

Since Emotional Incest has come up a couple of times in the podcast recently, I went back and found where Dr. Drew had Jill Vermeire on to talk about it in-depth. It has so many different kinds of consequences, where an enmeshed child can grow up with a need to be needed, but they won't want to be needed too much or get too close because they'll be afraid they're going to get smothered. And it can also trigger all manner of love addiction. It can make them put other people's feelings before their own, etc. It goes on.

It's some bad shit!!

It starts at about 11:50 in

“I can tell you, unequivocally, if I did not have my yoga and my meditation practice, I would not have made it.”

Krista Lester is the creator of Bunny Buddhism, writer, music teacher, suicide survivor, yogi, and meditator.

In this episode, Krista tells the story of how bunnies came into her life from her childhood fascination with them to owning her first bunny as an adult. Krista reflects discovering the healing powers of meditation during a long battle with depression and anxiety. She explains how the tenderness of bunnies and the wisdom from Buddhist philosophies intersected in her seated meditation practice to create the concept of Bunny Buddhism. Krista recounts the experience of tweeting one quote a day and its evolution into her book, “Bunny Buddhism.” She explores how yoga and meditation continue to provide solace in the grieving process from her husband’s suicide.
