For Jimmy - if you heard no shame in her interview about her current line of work you must be a pretty insensitive person. I heard tons of shame.

For the people bitching about Paul's questions or "making her cry", WTF I guess he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't - had he not asked the questions or probed deeper everyone would be saying that they couldn't get into the interview or the interviewee didn't reveal any of herself to him.

The reason the interview went here, there and everywhere is because, as the post above mine says, she's in the middle of her problems currently and other than self-flagellation over her job I don't think she's had the opportunity or perhaps hasn't wanted to dig really deep to find out why things went the way they did and resolve those issues. In a number of ways I think she is "stuck" and could probably use some professional help to dig herself out of the muck.

As far as "hooker", I know when I clock in to my job for a monolithic corporation run by soul-less MFers, I'm selling my services to Soul-Less Corporation for money, so I'm failing to see where I'm any different than she is. Both of us are trying to make a living.

I just can't judge. I really can't.

Honestly I'm often triggered, when I read criticism of the show, this it's a part of my personal dysfunction, where if I assume someone's feelings or sensitivities are getting hurt, I'm personally going to die of shame, guilt or pure terror.

Out of 187 episodes there haven't been many or any misses in my opinion, but I had to stop listening. I really, really wanted Paul to start out with the worn and proven: "Where do we start, where did you grow up?" I felt we jumped right into the sex work talk without any foreplay(sorry).

Like Fargin mentions, this interview seemed to jump directly into sex work without directly connecting it to mental health. As I was listening it felt like this should have been part two of a two-part interview.

There were many ways in which I could identify with the guest's frustration about frustration regarding her lack of accomplishment. I would be very interested in hearing "part one" of this interview that discusses her past.

Maybe it was just a glitch in the file, but at 1:16:02 Paul says he wants to crack Susanna's shell and the wall she was putting up. Right after he said that and ended the sentence, there's a little skip, and Susanna immediately says her father never said he was proud of her and she sounded a little emotional. Anyone notice that? Was this edited this way on purpose?

I can speak in terms of the point of view of a strip club customer- it is about fantasy fulfillment. That is it. A good stripper makes the john (and let's be honest, that is what all strip club patrons are) wanting more. But there is no denying that sex work takes a demotional toll on provider and a financial toll on the pervy patrons
