Re: writing about myself to remind myself
These guys co-run a free international MOOC out of a prominent university in Melbourne. It’s free and I’m not being paid, but I would certainly give it a good review. It’s a free 4 week course, with short lectures and activities each day; just a deepening of the science and practice of mindfulness. The younger guy on the right, Richard Chambers is a psychologist and a mindfulness consultant and has a Tedx talk on YouTube.
If all that’s your type of thing, naturally. I apologize if I am crossing a line by suggesting it.

Re: writing about myself to remind myself
Thinking of my wandering attention like a little wandering puppy, per the advice of Beany (thanks Beany!)
Sometimes that wandering puppy is attracted to a cat turd in the litterbox, the same way my attention is attracted to mindless doom-scrolling on my smartphone. The task is to gently, lovingly get the little puppy out of the litterbox.
That is what I am working on, right now

I’m doing much the same thing.
Doomscrolling feeds a fertile imagination. It takes (a) practice to short circuit that.
‘Wandering mind’ is actually a hot search topic.

Again, thinking of my wandering attention like a little wandering puppy.
Sometimes that wandering puppy is attracted to a cat turd in the litterbox, the same way my attention is attracted to mindless doom-scrolling on my smartphone. The task is to gently, lovingly get the little puppy out of the litterbox. This will happen again and again, it will never completely stop. And I will always try to be compassionate, gentle, self-loving. Sense of mindful non-judgemental acceptance in my noticing, and my noticing of my response (and my noticing of my noticing! Ha!)
Working, working, working. Always working.
