I am not sure if this is what the OP meant but I have real difficulty thinking these days. I have had depression and anxiety for about 15 yrs. However, I kept working steadily that entire time. This symptom is what finally pushed me into disability. I made too many mistakes at work and it wasn't because I was distracted. There are periods in the day when it feels like the gears in my brain are turning very very slowly and there is nothing I can do to speed them up. Coffee doesn't help. Exercise doesn't help. I seem to get really dumb suddenly without any warning. I have a really hard time comprehending what I am reading when I get like this. I also feel somewhat dizzy and disoriented. This may have been made worse by the meds I am on now but I had this symptom even before I was on meds. I am just coming out of such a period right now as I type this. I am still not 100% or what can be considered 100% for me.

I should add that I had every test imaginable including a head CT. I have seen many specialists. My GP says that it might be a symptom of prolonged depression.
