I was stood up today. :( Or, at least, she didn't show.

I got a message from her an hour later. She stated she overslept. No apology.

My efforts are not working out, obviously. I am going to pull back, come up with a new/better plan to socialize and date more, and then try again sometime soon. I'll post here when things start to turn around.

Aw man, that sucks. Don't take it as a judgement on you. You are one of the finest examples of true masculinity I have met, what with your perseverance and deliberateness and moral actions.

Update!

Bad news: The original person never apologized. Such poor manners.

Good news: I met someone else and we hung out twice! That is two more hangings-out than in the previous four years.

Sad thing I have to say: Ordinarily I don't believe in God. Or God hates me, or something like that. I made a rule for myself that the only time I'd pray is for someone to get/stay sober. I feel totally weak and inadequate to admit the following, so I better use my words: I actually recently prayed that God would send me someone to date. Someone kind.

I feel like such a loser typing that.

I think someone kind would recognise the humility of that gesture and praise you for it.

I feel the same way about prayer, Oak. But today I'll pray that there's someone out there who is also looking to meet someone kind, and that the two of you will cross paths soon!

Final update: I'm retiring this thread, but I did get a date. Two actually.

That's the good news: someone was somewhere specific only because she wanted to see me.

That bad news is that she never got back to me when I texted her this week.

While I'm disappointed, at least I got over my mental boundary of not going on a date in a long time. I have somewhere to start, now.

Thanks to everyone who posted, thanks very much. So much kindness.
