canoehead - I attend a 12 step for codependency and, in large part, it is for people with the hopelessness of depression along with other issues. I would imaging ACOA, which is for adults who grew up with dysfunctional families, with or without substance abuse, would be the same. I mean, if we are suicidal, there's dysfunction of some sort in the family.

I cannot recommend a 12 Step program enough. The support is incredible.
