Now for a happy one!

Post by Nevina »

When I was in 6th grade my class went to the Conservation Site for a field trip. We each came home with two baby tree saplings to plant at our houses. I planted one in the back yard and one in the front. The one in the back died quickly - probably improper amount of light. The one in the front was thriving until... one day the guy who came to mow the lawn ...(you can see where this is going, I don't even need to say it).

I was inconsolable. I cried for hours and hours. Finally, my mom said my sister and I were going to grandma's house while she ran errands. When she picked us up - she'd gone to a nursery and bought me a new baby tree. I know I have plenty of painful memories of my mom, but there were a few times when I really felt cared for and loved. This one stands out brightly.

That's so sweet!! I love that your mom kept it a secret while she went to get you a new one.
xoxo,
Chel
