I got on the train. Just...

I saw the train in the distance. I saw the station in the distance.

I thought, “not again.”

I thought about running and then, “you’ll never make it from here”, not even at full sprint.

Then a new thought appeared, “well... ... ... try anyway.”

I jogged slowly along the path, and breathed. Got to the ramp. Here came the train. Up the stairs.

I made it. I didn’t believe I would. I did it accepting that I would only get part there and then wait for the next one.

“Well try anyway.”

That’s only took 20 years.

Goal setting increases my capacity.

So true. Sometimes I get impatient and want to throw the whole thing away, but you are so right.

This is great! For me, acceptance of failure, without shame, lets me try more things.

In the movie Notting Hill, Julia Robert's character spins the tale of why she should get the last brownie, earnest and serious. When the group gives her a no-go, she laughs with them, in a well I tried kind of way. I think about this all the time and more or less imitate it when in a similar situation. I actually see her in my head. It's helped me to take being wrong, or disagreed with less seriously. It used to be so hard for me to back down. Now I can just smile and say, well so much for that theory!
