Bad outcomes definitely looming.
Irrational hope energy descends,
Causing bad outcomes to struggle,

Re: Titration Thoughts
… like I see a very stupid idea
That I can’t resist
And so I don’t,
Or I try but can’t.
And as I watch it come to be
The stupidity matters less,
And getting ready
Matters just so.
That I can’t resist
And so I don’t,
Or I try but can’t.
And as I watch it come to be
The stupidity matters less,
And getting ready
Matters just so.

Today I am going to be unreasonable.
I think it will feel amazing.
Being reasonable is starting to hurt.

‘Kindfulness’
It’s a known thing. I didn’t make it up.

Re: Titration Thoughts
I’ve started preparing a quality improvement exercise at work. The goal is to infuse daily work with kindness. I’m starting with interruptions. If you can’t reduce the number, how can you suffuse interruptions with heartfelt kindness? Interruptees who experience this new… encounter will hopefully enjoy reduced stress levels and greater sense of control over their work; and in their overnight recovery.
Kindness is one our organizations values but it doesn’t seem to get ‘localized’ to the workspace, except in a cursory, symbolic sense. Under work-pressure, kindness, across gender lines, goes out the window! People from cultural and language diverse backgrounds only get a performative version of it that they’re expected to appreciate.
As different kinds of overwhelm continue to rise, hopefully I can foster some kind of… customary way of approaching co-workers that… habitually draws on a shared capacity for kindness. I want to make the continual interruption a gift, where it’s currently a torture.
It would be nice if the ‘custom’ were then scalable but hey, there’s no rush.
So the improvement I’m trying for is to trickle the high-level value of ‘kindness’ and in a formal way, localize it, down into the on-the-ground workers interactions with each other (of whom I am one).
It sounds completely ridiculous; which is possibly my principle reason for pursuing it.

Re: Titration Thoughts
Hello Beany,
Kindness ridiculous? Not at all.
I too, work in a corporate environment where these things become bullet points in PowerPoint presentations, or even printed on the back of business cards.... But that doesn't mean they should lose importance, right?
Even small acknowledgements like "Wow, you seem really busy", or "You seem kinda stressed..", as you're addressing the interruption or request can go a long way...
