After reading some of the posts I'm wondering if I should see a psychiatrist for help with my ADHD meds! I was only diagnosed about a year or so ago and have went from 10mg of adderalle to 50 mg er. Whenever I would tell my doctor I wasn't noticing much difference she would up the dose! We have never tried anything else or combinations, or trying different times or spreading them out or anything!!! I really do like her for typical doctor stuff but am beginning to think she really doesn't know this area!! I probably would have given up altogether if I hadn't found podcasts!!! ( I had no idea what they were other than an icon on my iPhone lol). After listening to several episodes from one on ADHD I realized meds don't fix ADHD!!!! So I have been doing other things to help but now I'm wondering if tinkering with meds could help more??
Learning from the podcasts has also helped me know my son better, and I am more able to help him understand so he has a lot less shame and guilt!!!!! And our relationship has improved so much, I have real hope that he is going to grow up happy and healthy( and only need minimal therapy from his first 12 years of life )

Yes, it is probably a good idea to get a second opinion, especially from a specialist.
Good luck.
