I'm not sure this is anything... but I think it may be.
Ever since I was little, I had this "thing". This overwhelming urge to stretch my legs and arms and muscles over and over again. Then, on top of that, I bite certain parts of my lip in certain areas and finally, I press on or bite these three areas on my fingers - the inside of my thrum, pointer and outside of my pinky fingers. It's like an impulse to do it, it doesn't happen all of the time, but it happens enough that my skin is worn down on my fingers and I have areas on my lips that are rough (from biting and pulling the skin).
As I type this, it sounds crazy!! Anyone else have anything like this? Is this a form of self harm?
If anyone has any insight, I would be greatly appreciated. This sort of thing doesn't come up on a google search. LOL
Besides that, I have anxiety and depression that manifested after the pregnancy of my second child. I am on Effexor 225mg daily and still have anxiety episodes from time to time.
No PTSD, no physical abuse, normal childhood "for the most part". In good relationship, married, four kids, normal wifey lifey.
What is this? The need to stretch, pressure points, etc.

Have you heard of Sensory Processing Disorder? I have it, and it has answered why I am always focusing on big, bear hug, type joint pressure, constantly trying to get the right feeling in my limbs. For me, scratching is one of my big things, when I get stressed out/anxious, I will scratch my arms over and over as a form of self-soothing.
It may not be SPD, but it is something to look into, or ask your therapist about.
