Re: CBT podcast
Thanks for the CBT link Beany.
CBT is interesting to me, because it seems to have a definite goal, methods and timeline.
(Not that it isn't an ongoing effort for those of us saddled with depression and anxiety, and all the crap that goes with it! )
I remember therapy sessions in the past where I'd just get tired of talking about myself, and couldn't see a path forward. Maybe I just didn't have enough patience, or maybe we hadn't discussed any kind of roadmap...

Re: CBT podcast
Do you have an experience similar to mine? I think I am a candidate for lifelong therapy because each week I engage in distorted thinking, and I need a safe place to correct that distorted thinking so that resentment doesn't build inside of me, waiting for a time to explode. Also, it seems I don't have much ability to change quickly, so I have to do everythings in baby steps.SnoringDog wrote:I remember therapy sessions in the past where I'd just get tired of talking about myself, and couldn't see a path forward.
But yeah, CBT and its offshoots are great because I can come to my therapist with specific things to work on, and we can make a plan.

She calls exposure therapy, “sitting in the suck”.
It’s this practice called ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention). It’s for OCD recovery.
She runs an online program called the CBT School.

Re: CBT podcast
I have been a fan of Kim Quinlan's podcast for quite a long time. She was a guest on MIHH before (which is where I discovered her work) and I have met her in person at OCD GameChangers in Denver. She is a real joy and her enthusiasm for bringing hope into the world is palpable. I cannot recommend her and her podcast highly enough.
