stupid autism spectrum

Post by manuel_moe_g »

internet friend came down from Seattle to Los Angeles with his wife. Los Angeles is 50 minutes away from me. He was here for a week, never saw him, i think because i give his wife the creeps. Autism sucks, i have to work so hard to get worse results in relationships, and in all my in-person relationships i have to meet people 98% percent of the way towards them (instead of it being a fair 50%/50%). I have it much better than many autistics, but still not a fan. I crave human connection, and my body subconsciously does everything to sabotage it

Hello Manny,

Do you mean getting a little too close physically, which may make them uncomfortable?

Hello SnoringDog

I meant putting in 98% of the effort into a relationship compared to their 2%

It sucks, but the alternative is no relationship whatsoever

If anything my autism spectrum makes me standoffish and distant even when I want to be the opposite

It sucks to feel that way and I can relate. Life is never fair and if one clearly signals availability it can produce indifference in others. Why should they respond in kind when they can get what they want from you anyway, anytime if they so wish?

I have both suffered this in the past and sometime been the guilty party. Now I try to be a better person and also weed out acquaintances who treat me like that.

Hello Manny,

Well, I really botched my understanding of what you were saying! ;)

So, this 98% / 2% interaction happens all the time?
Can you describe it a little more?
How does it play out?

Thanks

SD
